Relaxed Village Hall Wedding in Wales | Siôn + Sarah
Super chilled out Village Hall Wedding near the beach with all the wine and lot’s of fun.
When Siôn and Sarah first got in touch with me about their village wedding in Llansteffan in Wales, I was so thrilled – they were planning a relaxed and laid back wedding with a humanist ceremony, food catered by their amazing friends Stephanie Booth Catering (seriously amazing food might I add) and even all the natural wine anyone in the world could get from Wrights Food. Since Siôn runs a natural wine pop up in Vancouver, these two know how to wine! Siôn and Sarah are the loveliest people, they found me after I’d shot their pals Clare and Phil’s wedding, I love it when I get to photograph groups of friends weddings.
I began the morning down at the beach and took a walk around the village from there, as the area meant a lot to them they wanted some shots of the surroundings and it was a really lovely relaxed way to start the day. I then headed to a very beautiful air b & b, where Sarah, the bride, was getting ready. I walked in to my favourite song by Neil Young playing, the bubbles were popped and everything was so lovely and relaxed.
The wedding took place at an old chapel in the village, and was a intimate (sort of) humanist ceremony. Siôns Dad, Hugh conducted their ceremony (they'd snuck off to do the legal bit beforehand), which was so beautiful and he got some great laughs out of everyone too. After the ceremony they were showered with confetti, and we all walked up the hill to the wedding reception where the wine was already flowing. The wedding reception took place in the local village hall, which they’d decorated with pink and white peonies.
After I don’t even know how many amazing courses of delicious food from the awesome caterers whilst classic vinyl was being played it was straight into speeches. Since the hall needed time to turn the hall around for all the dancing the couple provided a map of a walk around Llansteffan so everyone went off for a post dinner walk whilst the couple and I snuck off for some couple shots! Back we came and it was first dance time, followed by an awesome live band. It was a little too hot to dance by this point (remember that epic heatwave we had last summer?!) so everyone enjoyed the music and good wine! After the band various friends took it in turns to DJ and I can confirm lots of fun was had in this role. I finished up my coverage just as the sun was going down and it was finally cool enough for everyone to get inside and dance the night away on the floor.
Here’s what Sarah and Siôn said they had in mind when planning their wedding: ‘We wanted to do things ourselves and have it be more personal. Most importantly, we wanted to have really good food and drink. Siôn works in natural wine, and we both love to eat’.
Think they hit the mark? Here’s their super relaxed summer wedding!
