Tanner Warehouse Wedding in London | John + Rachel
A fun wedding at Tanner Warehouse wedding venue in London with rock band karaoke!
Where do I start with summing up John and Rachel’s awesome fun wedding at Dulwich Chapel followed by their reception at Tanner Warehouse venue in Bermondsey in London. Actually, yes, yes I do! Cat’s! We bonded over cats during our video chat, and that’s also how I started the day, at their house in Peckham, fishing two gorgeous cats out of some very spiky and cobwebby bushes in their garden. Rachel and her bridesmaids were all glammed up so I took on the task of bringing the cats indoors before we headed off to the ceremony in Dulwich. A task I was very happy to take on of course. Love of cats and all.
It was a really fun morning, filled with champagne and bridesmaids in gold sparkly dresses (glam glam glam). There was a hilarious moment after Rachel got her wedding dress on and we realised yes you could see her neon pants under it, so a quick ‘something borrowed’ meant she had on underwear the world wouldn’t see (and yes they were clean hehe).
A taxi ride with Rachel, her wonderful Dad and Bridesmaids was extremely entertaining, and as we arrived at Dulwich Chapel I think the nerves started to kick in. Rachels dad walking her down the aisle was a really emotional moment, and when she got to John at the front it was full of smiles. Their ceremony was extra special because it was officiated by one of Rachel's best friends. They exited to a huge round of applause from their loved ones, followed by their priest who ran out realising he had forgotten to bless them so did so outside amidst amused laughter and lots of cheering.
We all piled onto a big London red bus, what better wedding transport, when in Rome (London) and all of that. What we didn’t know before getting on said London bus was for those of us on top deck it would be like a terrifying roller coaster ride, gripping onto the handle bars and ducking out of the way of low hanging tree branches. I may or may not have smashed one of my lenses when I fell off my seat in a hurry to duck a tree branch (this is why I have such a big back with spares!)
Luckily we all arrived (somewhat windswept) to Tanner Warehouse in Bermondsey in one piece. Guests were greeted with Margaritas (my drink of choice), and as canapés went round there were some serious hunger eyes on the oysters. John and Rachel chose to have half of their speeches before dinner and half afterwards, I thought this was a lovely idea! Rachel was up first and gave a fantastically hilarious and loving speech (I’d caught Rachel practicing her speech in the toilets just before hand so knew what was in store for everyone), followed by an emotional speech from her lovely dad.
After a gorgeous BBQ style meal it was time for the second half of the speeches, and the best man had everyone in stitches. They toasted with negronis (excellent toast choice). And whilst the band finished setting up there was time for more fun and chats!
It wasn’t long before it was time for the party to get started. And what better way to do that, LIVE BAND KARAOKE! You heard me folks. It’s one of my favourite things, even the most reluctant of friends the ‘I’m never getting up, don’t be ridiculous’ are up there singing Spice Girls by the end of the night.
I’ll never forget Rachel and Johns first dance, they ended with John lifting Rachel into the air and spinning her round and around, and all of their friends singing along and dancing away in the background (ready for the Karaoke of course). Rachel kicked things off with the Karaoke, and the group claiming they’d ‘never ever’ do karaoke couldn’t be pulled away from the mic. Though they did end up needing help with the words to Spice Girls ‘Wannabe’. Tanner Warehouse is such a cool venue in London, with table tennis, which can make for excellent doubles and some outdoor space for anyone needing a break from dancing. Things definitely got wild, such a fun dance floor with wedding guests doing the can-can and some expert tie limbo. I ended the night by being swung round the dance floor by John and the biggest hug from Rachel, I was super sad to leave and can’t wait to go see them and the cats next time I’m in London Town!
