Fun Mansion House Bristol Wedding | Charlotte + Jack
Fun and laid back Wedding
at the Mansion House in Bristol
When Charlotte and Jack told me they wanted their wedding at the Bristol wedding venue the Mansion House to be relaxed and fun, I had no idea what was in store for me. I did not envision to be ending the night with a wonderful and perhaps slightly sloshed departure dance from the wonderful Charlotte who was having a little break with her pals in the Bridal Suite, nor did I expect dance floor pizza, disco ball heads or any of the break dancing and shoulder dancing. The entire day was full of fun, laughter and even a few emotional tears. They wanted to have a very personal day and chose to theme it around our love of travel, and there were little nods to this throughout the day.
“one of the most fun people we have ever met, from start, to finish and beyond our wedding journey, Kate has been incredible”
The wedding ceremony was outdoors on the lawn in glorious sunshine, with a few interruptions from their absolutely gorgeous (and adorably mischievous) daughter who decided she must rearrange all of the chairs during the ceremony. One of my favourite moments of the day (of their little girl at least), moments before the Bridesmaids and Flower Girls were due to walk down the aisle she made a run for it to get to her Dad, well ahead of the signal to go and the other flower girl went running after her shouting “nooo not yet” followed by Grandad legging it along! Love her! Once laughter died down the ceremony began and it was so wonderful. I love outdoor ceremonies as I can scope about a bit more and capture moments of the guests as well as the couple. There were two wonderful readings, one of which was read by Charlotte’s cousin, ‘The Places You’ll Go’ by Dr Seuss, one of my fave wedding readings and super personal to the couple and their love of travel. After lots of laughter and cheers they exited the ceremony the way all outdoor ceremonies should, with a shower of natural confetti petals!
The reception was all canapés, booze and hugs. Plus people taking an age to get into group shots despite expert help from Bridesmaid Katie (thanks for being the best boss of group shots there is). It probably felt longer standing about than it actually was, everyone just didn’t want to leave the music and the booze and really who could blame them! Everyone had such a wonderful time hanging out and catching up on the lawn, all to the tune of some wonderful live guitar music. It was really chilled.
Charlotte and Jack pretty much DIY’d the whole wedding, covered in beautiful Spring flowers, Charlotte even making her own bouquet up the morning of the wedding. The gorgeous naked cake was made by Jacks sister (and I can attest to it’s deliciousness). The table place names were based on their favourite cities with a story about their time in each city and the drink you would expect in that place e.g. gin in London - such a fun and unique idea! Some tables decided to swap drinks with each other based on personal taste and this was encouraged - I loved how it made all tables chat to each other. Everything was so wonderfully personal to them, they even went to Calais to choose wine unique to them (and I hear had plenty left over to enjoy, who doesn’t love wedding wine!) They made the Mansion House, which is already a quirky venue anyway, their own. I would like to take this moment to say OHMG about charlottes amazing colourful wedding dress, and those shoes?! She looked amaze. And it really complimented Jack’s blue suit and yellow buttonhole.
I loved the speeches, personal, emotional and extremely funny, some excellent faces too. Charlottes speech was magnificent, whilst taking some dutch courage from her oversized pink bride goblet (from the hen do), she managed to have everyone in tears and laughter all in one speech, including herself. And hilariously, as Charlotte pointed out during her speech, that no doubt both her and Jack would say the same thing, and yep they did! I loved getting both sides of the same story!
Everyone was pretty merry post (extremely delicious) food (props to the Mansion House Caterers), this is always best time to grab the wedding squad for some informal group photos together. I had nothing to do with the pile on that ensued, honest! I have never laughed so hard in my life.
Charlotte had an amazing sequin addition to her dress for the evening, and headed straight to the DIY glitter station to gold up some more. The wedding guests were itching for the dancing to start, plenty of people dancing away happily long before Charlotte and Jack’s first dance, and once the party started, oh it started, no one wanted to leave the dance floor - even bringing pizza to eat mid dance. Charlotte and Jack describe themselves as laid back and non-traditional and the whole weekend celebrated that. I WANT TO DO IT AGAIN!
Here’s what Charlotte & Jack had to say about working with Kate Jackson Photography:
“Kate Jackson 'fun' wedding photographer DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
Honestly she is one of the most fun people we have ever met, from start, to finish and beyond our wedding journey, Kate has been incredible. She gets to know you as a couple so well and you can really tell in the way the photos have come out. She captured our essence in every shot and her never ending energy provided over a thousand incredible pictures of our most special day.
As well as this she is professional and beyond helpful, giving us advice at every stage in our planning and making everyone feel at ease on the day.
Thank you so much Kate, for being part of our day and still being part of our lives now. We couldn't have asked for anyone better”.
